Queridos Gran Maestre y Comendador, os envío declaración de intenciones para hacer la Concentración de Veleros este año en la Ria de Arosa. Estoy con Benigno preparando las escalas, pero en todo caso los días son entre el 31 mayo y 3 junio, por lo que todo aquel que quiera unirse al evento, puede hacerlo. En unos días aproximaremos un programa concretando las paradas. Por su puesto que admito sugerencias, sobre todo a Pedro, que conoces mejor que nadie la zona. si tenéis alguna preferencia o queréis una cena en un sitio concreto, decírmelo cuanto antes para organizar. Pienso que salvo criterio en contra, la concentración del día 31 debemos hacerla en las inmediaciones de Puebla, y a partir de ahí establecer puntos de fondeo, durante el día, y cena porla noche.  Con tu venia, un año mas organizamosla III CONCENTRACION DE VELEROS DELA COFRADIA EUROPEA DELA VELA. En esa ocasión tenemos previsto hacerlo en la Ria de Arosa entre los días 31 de mayo y 3 de junio. En breve te haré llegar un programa, con los puertos de recalada y eventos organizados, pendiente en todo caso del tiempo reinante en la zona, que nos puede hacer variar las buenas intenciones. En todo caso, sin perjuicio de lo anterior, te agradezco que transmitas a nuestros cofrades la fecha del evento, para que todo aquel que quiera unirse a la concentración, sepa que es bien venido.

A la comida celebrada en el comedor del AERO CLUB DE SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA asistieron los siguientes Cofrades

Una vez iniciada la reunión El Gran Maestre, DON FRANCISCO QUIROGA expuso el objeto de la reunión; dar forma a la voluntad de la Cofradía de crear un Comité de Cultura Marítima.
Desde el primer momento la idea fue acogida con interés por parte de los asistentes, y prueba de ello fue el animado coloquio que se desarrolló y en donde se expusieron una serie de consideraciones que resumidas son las siguientes:
a. En primer lugar se comentó que el concepto de Cultura Marítima abarca un contenido muy amplio por lo que se deberían precisar los temas a abordar, tanto en el ámbito temporal como en el geográfico.
b. Siguiendo esta idea, y dado que la Cofradía nació y tiene su sede social en Galicia junto con la implicación y presencia de Cofrades pertenecientes a nuestro hermano y vecino Portugal, se propuso por parte de Don Ramón Sabin la idea de desarrollar temas

Once started the meeting the Grand Master, DON FRANCISCO QUIROGA explained the purpose of the meeting; give form to the will of the brotherhood set up a Committee of maritime culture.
From the outset the idea was received with interest from attendees, and proof of this was the lively symposium that took place and where exposed a number of considerations that summary records are the following:
a. firstly be commented that the concept of maritime culture covers a very broad content so should specify items to address, both the geographical and the temporary field.
b. following this idea, and given that the Guild was born and has its headquarters in Galicia with the involvement and presence of brethren belonging to our brother and neighbour Portugal, was proposed by Don Ramon Sabin the idea to develop joint topics to our common history and relationship

Muchas gracias Jose  

” Las cosas no salen bien por casualidad y debemos empezar agradeciendo a la organización sus gestiones para
que todo saliera bien.
No es fácil coordinar las muy variadas actividades que tuvieron lugar. Fueron muchas y distintas las
personas e instituciones relacionadas con el evento. En ningún momento se vivieron prisas, dudas , cambios de
planes, etc.
Y eso es un factor muy importante para mantener esa sensación de armonía y estar a gusto, de la que todos
pudimos disfrutar.
Tras mi primer encuentro que tuve con la Cofradía en la Subida del Douro en septiembre, y la reunión del Capitulo de Madrid en febrero ,
llegó la ceremonia de investidura de los nuevos cofrades.

Imaginaba algo ceremonioso. Así sucedió, pero nunca pensé en que, incluso, podría emocionarme cuando
mencionaron , magníficamente por cierto, mis experiencias relacionadas con las dornas y la Ría de Arosa.
En breves momentos fueron muchas las situaciones marineras y personales que pude recordar.

Los actos de Lisboa comenzaron el viernes día 2, con una reunión informal de bienvenida en la terraza del
del Hotel donde nos alojábamos por cierto, siendo todos sus empleados siempre amables y atentos con todos
nosotros.Empezamos a disfrutar de Lisboa por la vistas tan espectaculares de las que se disfrutaban.
Fue principalmente el reencuentro con algunos ya conocidos.

  El sábado día 3 , nos citaron en el hall del hotel. Empezábamos bien, pues no había que pegarse los madrugones
que nos dimos en Oporto….que por cierto, merecieron la pena.
En dos estupendos autobuses que la Marina Portuguesa puso a nuestra disposición, nos trasladamos a un muelle
donde en una embarcación, también de la Marina Portuguesa, nos desplazamos hasta la Torre de Belén. Atravesamos a la orilla de enfrente de la desembocadura del Tajo, para llegar a Cacilhas, y visitar la
Fragata D. Fernando.

Los Srs. Comandant y Segundo Comandante de la Fragata D.Fernando II e Gloria nos hicieron una introducción sobre la Fragata, su historia, sus
principales acciones y el papel desarrollado en la historia de la Armada Portuguesa. Impresionante, por su
realismo, la restauración de la fragata y de los componentes de una embarcación de esas características.
Nos permitieron conocer, no solamente intuir, la dureza y las dificultades que debieron vivir sus tripulantes.

Tuvimos oportunidad, también, de subir al Cristo Rei, desde donde se disfruta de una fantástica vista de
Lisboa y de la desembocadura del Tajo.

Regresamos al hotel, donde se celebraron reuniones de trabajo con los nuevos novicios, así como entre
los miembros de la Tabla.

A las 20:30 nos desplazamos al Gremio Literario.  
Esta institución fue fundado por carta regia de D. María II el 18 de Abril de 1846.
Es un edificio ejemplo de la arquitectura romántica de Lisboa con un jardín único de 1844.
Tiene entre sus fundadores a las dos principales figuras del romanticismo nacional: El historiador Alexandre Herculano, socio nº 1, y el poeta y dramaturgo Almeida Garret.
También lo integraron en sus inicios grandes personalidades de la vida política del liberalismo, de la ciencia,
de la economía, y de la aristocracia.
Debemos agradecer a nuestros anfitriones

, Jorge Pinheiro, Luis Vasconcelos ,Carlos Bleck, Pedro Mendoca; así como a la organización del evento la posibilidad de disfrutar del acceso restringido que se tiene a este maravilloso edificio así como de disfrutar de una estupenda
cena.

……y llegó el domingo día 4 de Marzo.

A las 10:00 participamos en una visita al Museo de la Marina.    
La visita fue guiada por el Director del Museo Almirante Bossa dionisio y Subdirector
Se formaron dos grupos para poder conocer con más detalle los elementos que lo componen y sus referencias históricas. Realmente interesante y demostrativo del valor y gran capacidad de los marinos portugueses.
Entorno a las 11:00 empezó la imposición de las capas a los nuevos integrantes de la Cofradía.
Acompañados y animados por la Banda de Música de la Marina Portuguesa ,dirigida por 1 TEN MUS Delio Goncalves, su actuación, de gran calidad fue en todo momento emotiva, no solo por las piezas
interpretadas sino por el sentimiento que tanto el director, como cada uno de los interpretes pusieron en ello.

   Desde el himno de Europa hasta piezas populares marineras    portuguesas.
Todas ellas fueron agradecidas por los asistentes con grandes aplausos, obligando, como en los grandes
escenarios, y este sin duda lo era, a saludar al director en muy diversas ocasiones, así como a ponerse en
pie a la orquesta.

Tras una introducción del , Director del Museo Contralmirante Bossa Dionisioy , el Canciller fue llamando a los nuevos cofrades se procedió a la imposición de las capas a los
nuevos cofrades. Veinticinco en total. Una ceremonia austera, seria , en la que se notaba que cada uno de los
nuevos cofrades éramos conscientes del momento que vivíamos. Probablemente para cada uno de nosotros
tuviera un significado y una perspectiva distinta, pero seguro que con un elemento común intimo asociado
al mar. Y no solo fue una gran ceremonia para nosotros, los nuevos, si no también para los “viejos”
cofrades, testigos de este acto, así como para los familiares y amigos que nos acompañaban.

Si entre las finalidades de la Cofradía está, a través de los distintos Capítulos, divulgar y fomentar la
presencia de la Cofradía y sus objetivos ,en distintos ámbitos territoriales, no hay duda que se ha dado
un paso adelante muy importante.En esta “nueva promoción” hay personas de muy distintos entornos
geográficos e institucionales; y sus cargos..

Tras la imposición de las capas ,se cerró el acto con unas palabras en nombre de los nuevos cofrades, Gloria Arago, Presidenta del CN Masnou, Tony Castro diseñador naval, Scott Perry Chairman del Comité de Juegos Regionales de la ISAF , del Uruguay, Carlo Rolandi de Italia Diego Colon y Carbajal finalizando con la palabras de bienvenida a los nuevos cofrades del Gran Mestre Francisco Quiroga , que cedió el cierre de la Investidura a lnuevo cofrade Almirante Jose Carlos Saldanha Lopes Chefe do Estado Maior da Armada de Portugal ,                                                                                                      la
interpretación por la banda de música de la Marcha dos Marinheiros.

A continuación , disfrutamos de una comida de despedida informal, en la que participamos todos
los asistentes a la Ceremonia, intercambiando saludos y deseos de volver a coincidir en un evento de la
Cofradía Europea de la Vela.

Things don’t go well by chance and we must start thanking the Organization for their efforts to
that everything went well.
It is not easy to coordinate the varied activities that took place. They were many and different the
people and institutions related to the event. At no time were experienced rush, doubts, changes of
plans, etc.
And that is very important to maintain the feeling of harmony and be at ease, that all

After my first encounter I had with the brotherhood in the rise of the Douro, and the meeting of the chapter of Madrid,
the ceremony of investiture of the new brethren arrived.
Imagined something ceremonious. Such was the case, but I never thought that, even, it could excite me when
mentioned, beautifully by the way, my experiences related to the dornas and the Ría de Arosa.
In brief moments were many situations bunk and personal that I could remember.

Acts of Lisbon on Friday began day 2 with an informal meeting of welcome on the terrace of the
the hotel where us alojábamos by the way, being all employees always kind and attentive with all
us.We started to enjoy Lisbon for such spectacular views that are enjoyed.
It was mainly a reunion with some already known.

Saturday 3rd, we cited in the hall of the hotel. We started well, because there was no paste the madrugones
that we gave in Oporto…. which by the way,

Two great buses that the Portuguese Navy put at our disposal, we moved to a pier
where in a boat, also of the Portuguese Navy, we move to the Tower in Bethlehem. We are going through to the shore in front of the mouth of the Tagus River, to reach Cacilhas, and visit the
Frigate D. Fernando.          

The Honourable Commander and second-in-command of the frigate D.Fernando II and glory made us an introduction on the frigate, its history, its
main actions and the role played in the history of the Portuguese Navy. Impressive, by its
realism, the restoration of the frigate and a vessel of such components.
They allowed us to know, not just guess, the hardness and the difficulties that had live crew.

We had opportunity, also, upload to the Cristo Rei, from where you can enjoy a fantastic view of
Lisbon and the mouth of the Tagus.

We returned to the hotel, where it held working meetings with the new novices, as well as between
the members of the table.

We move to the literary Guild at 20: 30.
This institution was founded by Royal Charter of D. Maria II on April 18, 1846.
It is a building example of romantic architecture of Lisbon with a unique garden in 1844.
It has among its founders to the two main figures of the national romanticism: the historian Alexandre Herculano, partner no. 1, and the poet and dramatist Almeida Garrett.

Also they integrated it into their big early personalities of the political life of liberalism, of science,
of the economy, and the aristocracy.
We must thank our hosts, Jorge Pinheiro, Carlos Bleck, Luis Vasconcelos, Pedro Mendoca; as well as the Organization of the event the possibility of restricted access with this wonderful building to enjoy as well as enjoy a great
dinner.

At 10: 00 we participate in a visit to the Museum of the Navy.
The visit was guided by the Director of the Museum  Admiral Bossa Dionysius and Deputy Director

After an introduction of the, Director of the Museum Contralmirante Bossa Dionisioy, the Chancellor was calling to the new brethren were the imposition of layers to the
new brethren. Twenty-five in total. An austere ceremony, serious, in which Garfunkel that each of the

new  Member Admiral Jose Carlos Saldanha Lopes Chefe do State Maior da Armada Portugal, the
interpretation by the band of the two March Marinheiros.

We then enjoyed a meal of informal farewell, in which we participate all
those attending the ceremony, exchanging greetings and wishes to match at an event of the
Sailing the European brotherhood.
